Erin Jane Nelson

Erin Jane Nelson (b. 1989) lives and works in Atlanta, GA. In 2011 she received her BFA from The Cooper Union. Recent solo exhibitions include: Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia (2021), DOCUMENT Gallery (2020), Chapter NY, New York (2020), and Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, Atlanta, GA (2019). Her work has been featured in group exhibitions at The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (2021, forthcoming), Aspen Art Museum, Aspen, CO (2020), Fries Museum in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands (2020), La Galerie, centre d’art contemporain, Noisy-le-Sec, France (2019); Deli Gallery, Brooklyn (2019); Van Doren Waxter, New York (2019); Capital Gallery, San Francisco (2019); and Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich (2018). She is included in the 2021 Triennial: Soft Water Hard Stone at New Museum in New York, NY. She also serves as the Publisher and Director of Burnaway, a non-profit magazine of contemporary art in the American South. Nelson’s work has been featured in Frieze Magazine (2020) and the New York Times Style Magazine (2018), and she was named one of Forbes Magazine’s 30 Under 30 in Arts & Culture in 2019. Nelson was a 2020 recipient of the Rabkin Award for Arts Journalism, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia’s Working Artist Project Fellowship. Her work is part of several museums and public collections including The Whitney Museum of American Art, KADIST, and the Fries Museum in the Netherlands.
