DOCUMENT is pleased to announce its participation in the 2018 edition of NADA Miami Beach with a presentation of works by Paul Mpagi Sepuya and John Opera. Both artists work in the realm of material experimentation: Sepuya with photography, portraiture, and collage and John Opera with surface, light abstraction, and chemistry. Sepuya’s photographic practice depends on analog methods of fragmentation and reconstruction, resulting in complex images that sincerely regard feeling and sensuality as tools for photographic inquiry. Opera’s work alludes complex ideas into an elemental visual vocabulary that explores the fundamental qualities of light, photographic reality, and the broader field of representational flatlands.
