Art Basel Miami Beach
Julien Creuzet
December 2–4, 2021

DOCUMENT is proud to show a solo presentation of Julien Creuzet at Art Basel Miami Beach 2021.

With language, time-based media and sculpture, Creuzet’s work is both poetic and political, drawing from historical narratives, real and forgotten, and a dense set of personal associations. A visual artist and poet, he actively intertwines these two practices via amalgams of sculpture, installation and textual intervention that frequently address his own diasporic experience. Inspired by the poetic and philosophical reflections of Aimé Césaire and Édouard Glissant on creolization and migration, Creuzet’s work focuses on the troubled intersection of the history of Martinique. and the events of European modernity.

The dust these days is our history, locked in our skulls, cavities, never let your hair drag, never eat red beans, never turn around, the night was restless, we knew, not open our eyes fruits, rotten, empty cavities., 2020
